Predictions are no longer restricted to weather. Instead, travel fares can be predicted with the help of Farecast. The company was acquired by Microsoft for around $75 to $115 million in 2008 and is now called Bing Travel.

Behind the site lies a program that predicts the airfare. What it does is search the prices in hundreds of travel agencies and predicts the future price based on the given data. The price predictor on the other hand, gives a good suggestion whether to wait or to buy the ticket at any given date. It also tells the decrease in price as well as the confidence level of whether the price would change or not.

In addition of comparing with its internal database, visitors can also compare prices on any of its competing websites as well. Such examples are Expedia and Hotwire. Visitors can choose where they want to depart from and where they would want to go. Seat classes are available in the Economy, Business or First Class and visitors can check fares for up to 6 adults as well.

Bing Travel or Farecast works worldwide. So, it doesn’t matter where the traveler’s location may be, it will most probably work just the way he or she intended it to be.
