As a measure of how expensive an Alienware desktop can be, we will try to assemble a system using the basic accessories and monitor but having the best components that are currently available in the market. For this particular purpose, we shall use the Area-51 ALX Desktop which starts at a whopping price of $3,999.
To save $250, we won’t use the factory overclock settings as that can be done by any enthusiasts but we will still use the i7 980x Extreme processor while the OS will be the basic that is given. Dual ATI HD 5970 CrossfireX graphic card is used and the RAM will be a total of 6GB. No monitor is included but a 1.2TB RAID 0 HD is used. All in all, the rig costs a whopping $5049.00.
